UPDATES AS AT 1ST OCTOBER, 2024
The overall objective of the Warugo Project is to increase piped water supply coverage in the following areas; Kakanju sub-county, Bitooma Town Council, Kyamuhunga Town Council, Kyamuhunga Sub-County, Ruhumuro Sub-County & Boost water supply within the existing network most especially under Ishaka branch and its design capacity is 2,500m3/day (2,500,000 litres/day). The project is complete only pending the completion of laying of 9.8km DN250 PN10 PVC main from the reservoir to interconnect with OD200 main at Bishop Ogez High School which supplies water to Kyamuhunga TC & S/C, Butare and Bitooma TC.

We shall also interconnect the DN250 (10”) distribution main with the DN80 (3”) Buramba distribution main which supplies Ishaka Town, Katungu and Rwemirokora. We expect to complete the above works before end of October 2024 then commissioning of Warugo Project will take place in November 2024.
