NRM liberation day reminds us of pre I986 Uganda’s era, today’s milestone and repositions us to make Uganda’s tomorrow a history

On 26th January 1986, NRA guerrillas toppled a military Junta led by Gen.Tito Okello Lutwa
and Bazilio which had also staged a coup d’etat that toppled Obote ll regime on 27th July 1985. On 26th January 2023, we are marking 37 years of NRA/M Revolution ( Uganda being led by NRM government). The celebrations are to take place in Kakumiro with a theme ” our resolute effort to transform Uganda is a promise we shall fulfill “. The pre 1986 Uganda’s era was characterised with Political turmoil, economic stagnation, politics hinged on religious divisions, extra judicial killings, parochialism,
, ideological bankruptcy, lack of Constitutionalism and popular / participatory democracy.
The 37 years of NRM government in power have marked the return of popular and participatory democracy punctuated with free and fair elections after every five years, return to Constitutionalism after promulgation of 1995 Constitution, economic recovery through creation of favourable investment climate, expansion of export base, liberalization of economy with it’s expanded tax base, creation of regional blocs to expand trade base, industrialisation, better service delivery through increased road, electricity and water coverage, improved health and educational services, professionalising the army, promotion of national and regional peace and stability, women emancipation and causing ideological purity of Citizenry premised on nationalism, patriotism, pan Africanism and democracy which creates barricade against all forms of parochialism and neo-colonialism.
To keep the vision of mission of NRA/M Revolution; we must be cognizant that NRA/M Revolution was / is meant to promote holistic welfare of masses. NRA/M Revolution was/ is a people centred/ massive Revolution . Therefore, the torch bearers given to carry a Revolution mantle must generate policies/ programs and interventions meant to meet people’s needs and priorities. The torch bearers of NRA/M Revolution must limbo recalcitrant behaviour of certain leaders with draconian measures and mitigate Political antithesis of leaders vis -as-vis our objectives of NRA/M Revolution. We salute H.E Museveni for his Visionary leadership especially in generating programs aimed at revolutionarising welfare of masses like Universal Primary/ secondary education, establishment of Health centres , economic programs destined to fight household poverty like Entandikwa, Youth livelihood fund, Wealth creation, Emyooga, Youth Skilling , Parish Development model inter alia and playing a pivotal role to cause national and regional peace as sine qua non for national development . Conversely, some of these programs have not realized their objectives because of being entrusted with unPatriotic leaders lacking ideological purity/ clarity of the NRA/M Revolution. I implore NRM Government leadership to identify ideologically upright NRM Cadres to be clandestine POLITICAL EMINENCE GRISE to cause solid performance in government Institutions/ civil service and government programs. The torch bearers of the NRA/M Revolution have a generational and moral duty to make sure the blood shed by our brothers/ sisters and parents during the Revolutionary struggle is not put to waste and the departed spirits rest in eternal peace. NRM government has duty to also guard against Neo- colonial agenda b
ecause pillars of NRA/M Revolution are a threat to neo-colonial disengenous and stratagem agenda. Africa is faced with de-culturalisation agenda especially through gay movement ( homosexuality/ lesbianism) and the proponents of this moral decadence prefer African leaders who are stooges to this gay movement and thus ideological orientation against this attack on our moral fibre is exigently needed.
Happy NRM Liberation Day .
