At the sitting of African Water Association (AFWA) Board meeting on 18th February held at Sofitel Hotel – Abidjan – Ivory coast; Eng.Dr.Silver Mugisha – Managing Director ( MD) of National water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) was re-elected President of AFWA 2023- 2025 since his first term of Office had expired ( 2020-2023).
The Board meeting at Sofitel Hotel- Ivory coast went further to vote Kampala – Uganda to host the next AFWA Congress and Exhibition scheduled February 2025.
AFWA is a professional body bringing together over 100 water Utility Institutions from 50 Countries across African continent.
The re-election of Eng.Dr Silver Mugisha as a president of AFWA and choice of Kampala – Uganda
as the next host of the AFWA Congress and Exhibition scheduled February 2025 is culmination of motley of factors but most importantly is solid meritocracy and Utility Management of Dr.Silver Mugisha that sees Uganda having access to clean water by over 70% in rural areas and 80% in urban areas, unmatched leadership modus operandi manifested by Dr.Silver Mugisha in his first term as President of AFWA 2020-2023 and his enriched curriculum vitae that made him to be voted Vice president of International Water Association.
We salute Dr.Silver Mugisha and entire NWSC fratenity for raising Uganda’s flag high on both Africa’s continental and International levels. We inferably thank NRM government under Visionary leadership of H.E Museveni for supporting NWSC to be a Public Institution to reckon with .
