There is Bushenyi Agriculture trade show from 6th- 11th March organised by Bushenyi Youth Forum under auspices of Mr.Edmund Bashaasha. Hon Katusiime Annet Mugisha thought it prudent and lobbied from Ministry of Health to have testing and sensitization of non Communicable diseases like Cancer, Diabetes, hypertension and Eye Testing inter alia. Hon Katusiime Annet Mugisha said that such medical camp helps people to get early testing to avoid treating non Communicable diseases when a patient is in advanced stage and additionally said that people get awareness of such diseases on how best they can prevent them. Hon Katusiime Annet Mugisha said non Communicable diseases are very expensive to treat and many Citizens have lost their lives to them and thus, early testing and awareness mitigates it.
Mr.Edmund Bashaasha of Bushenyi Youth Forum said that this agriculture trade show is meant to awaken people that there is wealth creation in agricultural sector cognizant of the sector employing over 70% of Uganda’s population especially amidst a status-quo of skyrocketed youth unemployment. Mr. Edmund Bashaasha further said agriculture trade show is in Consonance with H.E Museveni’s “economic gospel” of fighting household poverty and improving household income. Mr.Edmund Bashaasha argued that NRM government’s mission of causing social – economic transformation can be largely realized if the Citizenry participate in commercialized agriculture as H.E Museveni always implores Citizenry not only work for “Kidda”( stomach- Subsistence Agriculture) but take the surplus to the market. Thus, whoever comes to the show ; learns, benchmarks and borrows a leaf to better him/ herself in fighting household poverty.
Mr.Edmund Bashaasha inferably said that the show is intended to show case value addition chain, Agriculture innovations and attract partners in Agriculture project chain like suppliers of building materials, Agriculture inputs- chemicals, irrigation materials, digital innovations so that people can know where to get right agricultural inputs at affordable prices.
