Cognizant of billions of shillings invested in Uganda Technical College Bushenyi ( UTCB) by government of Uganda that made UTCB to have unmatched fabrication, manufacturing and industrial maintenance workshops with recent state of art machinery and digitally monitored devices, newly constructed and magnificent buildings and movable properties like buses and other vehicles; office of the president visited the college to assess the impact of government support.
UTCB was founded in 1956 and elevated to college in 1984. It offers diploma courses in civil, mechanical ,water,electrical, ceramics engineering and architecture . UTCB was chosen as a centre of excellence for manufacturing among all colleges in Uganda.
Mr.Sam Byagweri- The Principal of UTCB said that they also offer short courses in metal fabrication, automated production and industrial maintenance . The Principal says that they have qualified instructors and best workshops to equip their students with required skills to outcompete in the world of work. The principal says that companies/ factories book their students before they finish cognizant of their hands on training they get from recent technogy with digital component they have at UTCB not forgetting the knowledgeable and skilled instructors’ force.
Mr Sam Byagweri says that they plan to hold an open day in November this year to showcase to the public what is being done at UTCB because some people are not aware of unique resources at UTCB and billions of money government of government has invested at this college and therefore, the raison d’etre to use this government institution to its fullness.
Deputy RDC Katsigazi Donanto William who led office of the president- Bushenyi entourage confirmed to the principal that the office of the president-Bushenyi will use all channels of communication to sensitise the populace to embrace Technical education to mitigate skyrocketed youth unemployment and make use of such government institution fully resourced to unlock potentiality of citizenry to fullness.
